Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Last updated 3 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Shakeout Labs Ltd for the Shakeout app. By using Shakeout you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

Read this part first

Shakeout tells you how hard and how far to run. It is not medical advice, and it does not know anything about your health beyond what you tell it.Distance running carries a risk of injury and, rarely, of serious harm. See the Training and your health section below before you start.

Your account

You need an account to use Shakeout. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code we email you. You are responsible for keeping access to whichever account or inbox you sign in with secure. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

You can delete your account at any time from the ME tab in the app. That removes your account, your off-device backup and the training stored on your phone, and it cannot be undone.

The free trial

Shakeout is free for 14 days. The 14 days start when you generate your first training plan, not when you install the app, so nothing is spent while you are deciding whether to bother.

Send us feedback through the form in the app during your trial and we will add another 14 days, once. You do not have to say anything nice to qualify.

When the trial ends the app stops working until you subscribe. Your plan, your paces and every run you have logged are kept, not deleted, and they are all there if you subscribe later.

The subscription

The App Store shows you the price in your own currency before you confirm, and that is the price you pay.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.

A subscription gives you everything in Shakeout. There is no cheaper tier and nothing is held back from subscribers.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel at any time in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, because Apple, not us, holds the billing relationship.

Refunds are handled by Apple under their own policy. Request one through reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to issue refunds directly.

If you are a consumer in the UK you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. That right is lost once the content has been supplied and you have agreed to immediate access, which is what happens when a subscription begins. Apple's refund process above is available regardless.

We will not raise the price you pay while your subscription continues. If we change our prices, existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at.

Training and your health

Shakeout produces training plans from a recent race time and the answers you give it. It cannot see you, it does not know your medical history, and it does not know how you are feeling on any given day.

We give no guarantee of any result, race time, fitness improvement, or freedom from injury.

What you may and may not do

Shakeout is licensed to you for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not resell it, redistribute it, reverse engineer it, or use it to build a competing product. You may not use it to coach other people commercially without our written agreement.

We own the app, its training logic and its content. These terms give you a licence to use it, not ownership of any of it. Your training data is yours.

Availability

Your plan is calculated on your phone, so the app keeps working without a connection. The backup, sign-in and subscription checks need one. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error free, and we may change or withdraw features. If we withdraw something significant while you are subscribed, we will tell you in the app.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Shakeout at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, and we will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects you materially we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use Shakeout after that means you accept the new terms.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

Your data

What we collect and what we do with it is set out in our Privacy Policy.
