Plan your running
How do you plan your running without a race booked?
A race date gives a plan a finish line, but you can still organise your running without one. Shakeout keeps a base schedule until you add a race to your calendar.
Give the week a structure you can use
Choose your available running days and enter a recent race result to set your starting paces. Those are separate inputs: your result describes your running fitness, while your available days describe when the sessions can fit.
The weekly plan puts the sessions and rest days in one view. TODAY tells you what the next session asks for. You can move a session to another day when your schedule changes, and the change stays in the plan.
Train in a base schedule until the calendar changes
Without a race booked, the plan holds a base schedule. It does not invent a race deadline or send you into a taper for an event that is not there.
This is different from repeatedly restarting a dated race plan. You can keep recording your runs and reviewing the week while you decide what to enter next.
Add a race when you have one
Your race list and running settings shape the training ahead. Shakeout supports distances including 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. When you add a race, the plan uses its date and distance to build the weeks around it.
The plan can include easier weeks and a taper before the race. A season can contain more than one race; you keep one calendar of sessions rather than maintain separate spreadsheets for every event.
Keep the plan connected to what you run
Connect Apple Health if you want recorded running workouts matched to planned sessions. You can also log your runs yourself. Completed sessions stay in your history when you change the weeks ahead.
When a new race result reflects changed fitness, add it to reassess your training paces. You can also record sidelined days in the app when you are resting because of illness or injury, so they are not graded as missed training.
The plan is calculated on your phone. Joining the launch waitlist is free; the app will include a 14-day free trial followed by a subscription.
